~ Isaiah 55:9 ~ “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

This morning the above scripture reminded me of the frailty of our anxieties.  I made reservations for travel for our two daughters and myself to travel upcountry in advance, because i like particular sitting areas on the bus.

Come last evening, one of my daughters became unwell. I then considered taking our son with us but my daughter told me he was not really up to it, so i would be ruining his holiday.

This morning we get to the bus just under five minutes to departure. As i rush to the door after overseeing the loading of our baggage, a gentleman comes beside me and interrupts the security guard with an urgent question. “Is this bus full?” The guard answers in the affirmative and i tell him i have an extra ticket if he is interested. Turns out he even likes the seat i have to offer and pays me for it.

The amazing thing is that, as the bus takes off, i realize that we have at least three vacant seats! How faithful is God? I did not stress about loosing my 1500shs, which of course is non refundable at such short notice. But the Lord had noted down and refunded me. He also cared about this man’s sitting preference and so blinded the bus conductor to the fact that they had vacant seats they could sell to him directly. I truly love how God works perfectly when we allow Him by trusting and obeying Him.

My prayer is for you to trust and obey Him the remainder of this year and be amazed at how accurately He will direct your paths, in Jesus’ name i pray. Amen!

This morning i was on a matatu to town. The driver decided to avoid the jam by taking the Southern bypass. As expected, he was not the only one that made that decision.
So by the time we got onto that highway, there were many other matatus, aside from the regular traffic rattling down that road in high speed with their trademark booming music.

The road borders the Nairobi National park and so soon, we passed six Giraffes grazing. They were not in the least perturbed by the loud matatu exhaust noises, nor the deafening music. I noted with interest their concentration on the activity they were undertaking.

We soon passed a herd of gazelles and the same scenario was replicated.
I remembered the wild animals documentaries i have watched. I knew that if a predator was to approach this herd, they would notice it from a long distance away.
Does it mean that animals are by nature very smart? Why do they concentrate on what matters and remain sensitive to their environment and eminent danger?

Why do majority of human beings spend so much time and energy on things that do not matter, and live almost completely oblivious of what ideally should be of greatest importance to them?
We are never sensitive to our Spirit Man, yet we are created to live by His instructions and guidance every single day for us to be able to live a fulfilled life.

My prayer is for God to quicken me in everything, to help me ignore anything that is not necessary and help me in battles that are necessary and to increase my sensitivity to the Holy Spirit Man in me, in the Mighty name of Jesus.

‘Will you have the leberpastate? ” No thanks mum. “Of course you will eat it. It’s healthy for you!” She concludes, serving me with a slice.

What is the use of saying no. Like any caring mum or grandma, she will feed you and care for you the best way she knows how.

i came fully prepared to care for mum.  To Serve her to the best of my knowledge thanks to my long experience.

But alas! I was pleasantly surprised at the loving care and concern am receiving from her. This is extremely humbling to me considering that mum is ninety years young!

So it is true, what you give out, so shall you receive. Love and you shall be loved back. Serve and you shall be served.

Matthew 7:12

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets

Mutter! Time to stroke your limbs!

All glory be to God!

Understand Gods will for you

Be very careful then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise. Making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Ephesians 5:15-17

This scripture reminds me of the numerous mistakes i have made in my life. Especially in very important decisions such as what business to do for a living, how to invest when i can. I have lived this long without realizing that perfect life instructions are in the Bible.

Ephesians clearly tells us that, unless you seek Gods will in your life, everything you do will be uphill. We can only succeed if we are living according to His purpose for us. Hence we should seek first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, then, only then shall everything else be added unto us! The beauty about this is that, it becomes easy when you seek Him. He does all the work, as long as you obey Him!

Soon after i got married, i met a friend who told me her boyfriend had just bought two plots for her worth over 20m. This was at a time when i was desperately struggling in a business i had made my husband raise capital for, despite him having made it very clear to me that, he did not have money, and so his priority was to ensure the childrens welfare and education. I was desperate because i felt that i was too late in having my own home. And according to my plan, i needed to work real hard to build us a home within a year. I even thought i should have asked God for my husband to be rich. See, now i was wishing for someone else’s life. And dont we just like doing that! Wishing for other peoples lifestyles, homes, husbands. The list is endless. The grass always seems to be greener on the other side.
We need to understand that His grace is sufficient for us as long as we live in His purpose for us.

The following day, i got the revelation in my spirit of one of the most famous scripture, seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness…
And now i trully know that, however much you labour and gather, as long as you are not operating in His will for you, you are working in vain. Ideally, you are foolish. No wonder some people work so hard for years, save up, even build homes, and loose all in a day. Either through getting conned or loosing property to fire etc. i have personally lost money through conning and much more in business.
Thankfully i now know, that its up to me to walk in His will, be wise and not foolish. Otherwise i labour in vain.

Father God, please mould me afresh, and lead me to walk in your will for me, step by step as i obey You!

I salute a wonderful Man!

A Salute to a wonderful Man

Happy anniversary my Omwami.

I will forever be grateful to God for giving you to me.

Omwami means king in my language. The reason i fondly call you thus is because, aside from deserving it, you first elevated me into a queen, this automatically turned you into a king.

Thank you for being such a wonderful husband, an awesome father and a great friend. You have continually demonstrated to  me what unconditional love is. I have understood God’s love for me through you and for this am very thankful to you.
You are the face of patience, humility, simplicity and kindness.

No wonder you got along very well with my special uncle who has recently gone to sleep. I thank God daily for bringing you into my life. It was a Divine Connection! I love, respect and admire you. Now you understand why i always tell you God loves me excessively. ( He chose a very special man for me despite my shortcomings)

Whenever you cross my mind, i smile… This means am constantly smiling because you are always on my mind.

Thank you for being my Spiritual Father. these past years have seen me develop into the woman God created me to be, thank you for obeying God and allowing Him to use you to reveal me to me.

You have excelled in your appointment by God to care for me.

I salute you, mein Liebe, WJD
You are the love of my life!

Tribute to a Great Man

Yesterday i had the privilage to attend a requiem service for my special uncle Muka. I had promised myself not to shed a tear as i had already done that in the privacy of my bedroom.
You see, aside from resolving from the first day of this year to be happy, always, no matter what, i was very thankful to God for having kept my uncle for a good seventy nine years.
I found myself breaking down as Linda, my youngest cousin in that family read his eulogy. It stung as she truthfully recounted the man my uncle was.

My uncle is the greatest man i have known all my life and admired. He is greatly educated, highly learned and very well read, yet, he is the most disciplined man with untarnished integrity. The face of humility and simplicity.

Events went through my mind. It seemed like recently that my mum and i visited Nairobi, my first time, for my treatment of severe nose bleeding. We had arrived in the city and seek my cousin out at his place of work. He had continually ignored my mum calling him out at the counter of his work place. Mum had hoped that we would put up at this cousin’s house.
My mum then decided to look for my uncle.
My special uncle received us with joy. That evening he invited my cousin to his house for dinner, and much to his embarrassment enquired from him if he new my mum and went ahead to introduce us to him. Of course he did.
My philanthropic late father Played a huge role in that cousin’s education just like many others.

I had first encountered a sit on toilet in uncle Muka’s house and carefully made a mental note to have a blue one in my house…you see, i loved blue and i had to have this toilet, unlike the filthy pit latrines i was used to back home. I was just a little girl then.

On my first visit to Paris, France, my uncle knew i was going to attend a training, being the surpriser that i am, i had immediately taken a taxi, to my uncle’s address. Little did i know that my caring uncle had taken time off from work to meet his “omwiwa” (niece) as he always fondly called me at the airport.

Thankfully as my uncle had the customer care blare out my name at the airport, he decided to call my best friend, aunt Jane, the love of his life to share news that he could not find omwiwa. It was a great relief when he learnt i was safe at his house.

Uncle Muka organized for my bursary funds from Jomo Kenyatta Foundation for my high school.

Thankfully, towards end of April i had the honour to visit uncle with my husband. I later prayed with him as he kept sharing how much he wanted his surgery to be done with so he could return home.

As my husband hugged him before our departure, he told him, ” You are on God’s path, God’s path is peaceful and needs no struggle’. I noticed my uncle snuggle closer to him and i knew, i just knew that he was saying goodbye.
At the end of the service as the pastor called family to the front for prayers, i had in my spirit, he was the dad you never had. I confidently stepped forward.
Uncle Muka, i celebrate your honorable life! My prayer is that the Lord enables me to emulate your discipline, integrity, humility and simplicity! You were a noble man. You have left a legacy!

I know you are dancing with the angels for our Lord in heaven!

New Things

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:19

I had tiles laid on our kitchen wal as a simple artwork but we were one piece less. Finally when i brought a box of the same, the mason fitted them in my absence. It took me two days to notice that the space was complete. This is a wall where our stove is. Within these two days i prepared meals on the stove looking at the wall in front of me but never noticing the difference.

On the second day as i sat in the living room, it suddenly occurred to me that something was different! The tiling was complete. This got me thinking, how many things escape my notice just because am so used to them that each time i see them i see no change, if there is. If you are anything like me, you are so set in your usual ways that you hardly notice the new things the Lord Is doing in your life, hence you miss out on some blessings time and again. The scripture above awakens us to notice, to discern, to be sensitive to what God Is doing in our lives within ourselves and  our surroundings. Sensitize your spiritual self to notice every new thing the Lord Is doing in your life. It is the small things that add up together and make the huge difference. You may keep praying for something the Lord has already given you just because you are blinded to it. Or because it did not arrive in the package you expected or hoped for. May the Lord open your Spiritual mind, eyes and ears so you can perceive every new thing He Is doing for you!

An insightful and peaceful week ahead.
