Meditate upon it. Proverbs 30

Proverbs 30
Sayings of Agur
1 The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh—an oracle [a] : This man declared to Ithiel, to Ithiel and to Ucal: [b]
2 “I am the most ignorant of men; I do not have a man’s understanding.
3 I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One.
4 Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and the name of his son? Tell me if you know!
5 “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
6 Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.
7 “Two things I ask of you, O LORD; do not refuse me before I die:
8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the LORD ?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
10 “Do not slander a servant to his master, or he will curse you, and you will pay for it.
11 “There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers;
12 those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth;
13 those whose eyes are ever so haughty, whose glances are so disdainful;
14 those whose teeth are swords and whose jaws are set with knives to devour the poor from the earth, the needy from among mankind.
15 “The leech has two daughters. ‘Give! Give!’ they cry. “There are three things that are never satisfied, four that never say, ‘Enough!’:
16 the grave, [c] the barren womb, land, which is never satisfied with water, and fire, which never says, ‘Enough!’
17 “The eye that mocks a father, that scorns obedience to a mother, will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley, will be eaten by the vultures.
18 “There are three things that are too amazing for me, four that I do not understand:
19 the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship on the high seas, and the way of a man with a maiden.
20 “This is the way of an adulteress: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, ‘I’ve done nothing wrong.’
21 “Under three things the earth trembles, under four it cannot bear up:
22 a servant who becomes king, a fool who is full of food,
23 an unloved woman who is married, and a maidservant who displaces her mistress.
24 “Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise:
25 Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;
26 coneys [d] are creatures of little power, yet they make their home in the crags;
27 locusts have no king, yet they advance together in ranks;
28 a lizard can be caught with the hand, yet it is found in kings’ palaces.
29 “There are three things that are stately in their stride, four that move with stately bearing:
30 a lion, mighty among beasts, who retreats before nothing;
31 a strutting rooster, a he-goat, and a king with his army around him. [e]
32 “If you have played the fool and exalted yourself, or if you have planned evil, clap your hand over your mouth!
33 For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife.”

Give Freely

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Proverbs 3:27

Yesterday during my walk which i do more often in my thoughts than by action, i met a young lady dressed in black and red. She looked perfect, i said hello to her then told her as much. You look perfect! She nearly stumbled over with a very confused expression on her face. Probably trying to decide wether to thank me or not. It was totally unexpected for her.
Interestingly, that is the same look i got from a gentleman in an office over ten years ago when i started complimenting strangers. He was issuing a receipt for me. He had very beautiful hands, not very common among men. I told him so and he was totally confused.
Since then, i made it my business to compliment at least one person as long as am out there. Ninety nine percent of the time, i get the same reaction, of confusion, sometime even embarrassment. But, thankfully at the end, they appreciate and suddenly a confident look replaces the surprise.

Having spent my life believing the people who passed a sentence on me as the ugliest person possible. I had no self esteem which led to neglecting myself. Never allowing myself to own even a simple nice dress. My mind was so set that, i went to lengths to prepare my husband mentally to how gross i looked. He could not understand it, i thought he was in denial lol. Perhaps if i had been noticed and complimented by a stranger a few times, i would probably have given my looks benefit of doubt.
Human beings respond to love, attention and care so well. When you notice someone and appreciate them, you make a very big difference in their life.

Do not withhold a compliment whenever its due to someone! Especially a stranger. For family and those close to you, have something to tell them daily, an encouraging word, a hug, a listening ear. This in itself is evangelizing. We dont have to be on the pulpit to witness for God.

Father God, i thank you for my ability to speak. Please make me use my mouth as a tool to bring a smile and happiness in others to the glory of your name!

God is THE ROCK!

Isn’t it amazing how much trust and reliability we sometimes place in people?
You want to hold an event, you look at your contacts and as you send out invites, you tick the names you are so sure will definately be present no matter what!
Or perhaps you have a financial problem and you consult your phone book and decide on a few people you are sure will come through for you.
Most times, we get it all wrong.
The only dependable authority is God, He shall never leave you nor forsake you!

During my book launch recently, the people i was solidly sure would attend did not show up. A lady i met only twice nearly two years ago happened to see the invite and travelled all the way from Eldoret to attend the launch. I was extremely touched by her gesture. Then it dawned on me, its all Gods doing! God knows everything and He enabled the very people He wanted to come do so.
This realisation jolted me to a fact i know but which i tend to conveniently forget when am pushing my own agenda for my ego. That, God is Lord, and unless you depend on Him entirely, you are headed nowhere. For He has a perfect plan for your life.

Especially in my case. He instructed me to write this book. He will surely ensure that whoever He wants to get a copy does, to the glory of His Mighty name! And so, it was interesting and truly humbling to see people, most of whom i have never met before, whom He sent personally. This gives me confidence that, He who began a good work in me is sure to bring it to fruition.
All i need to do is my part, which is easy depending on my ability, through His grace to seek Him and obey Him. This should be manifested in the quality of life that i live.
Do i lean on man for my every help? Do i trust in my plans and strength, or do i look to Him for my every need?

Similarly, our lives ought to be bearing witness to the truth of God’s Word: in our relationships, our lifestyles, our habits, the moral choices we make, our values and dreams.

Father God, may you enable me to be guided by You. My every step to be ordered by You. So i can avoid worldly distractions and allow You to complete Your will for my life in Jesus’ name!

New Season

Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.’ Genesis 13:9

Am one of the people who hold onto toxic and meanigless relationships longer than i should. Dr. Phil says, the worst thing to do is to stay in a bad relationship one more day than necessary.
In Genesis, we see Abram asking Lot to part ways with him despite being a relative because their closeness is now creating lots of issues which is detrimental in any relationship.

I have had “friends” whom i know so well are not meant to be in my life. They drain me completely. A good sign that its a one sided relationship. People who will seek you out when they have issues. Or when they want to know if your life is getting better or worse. They investigate and then disappear again. Its like they believe that life is some sort of competition.

Since God instructed me to speak to the broken hearted, i have found so much satisfaction. Whenever i encourage someone, its so fulfilling and leaves me completely rejuvenated with a joyful heart. This has enabled me to discern the intentions of some “friends”. And i have resolved to keep the toxic friendships out of my life. They can only serve to distance me from Gods calling. When i waste time getting drained in such relationships, i shall miss out on Gods purpose for me. God gives us grace and strength to do what He wants us to do. If you are getting yourself busy doing anything and everything that comes to you, you will end up missing Gods purpose for your life. So sometimes its important to sit still and listen to God. Sometimes its important to weigh your relationships and drop some along the way if you have to realize your God given destiny.

So just like Abram, i dont care where i go in my new season which started recently, but with whom? For i know, that as long as i have God, i have everything.
Its important to start a new season in your life. Not for approval from others but for yourself. Will you choose to declatter your life from unnecessary busyness?

Father God, open my spiritual mind. Give me the spirit of discernement. Choose for me friends that will see You as i see You!
