Be Still and know AM GOD

The last one month i have been on a roller coaster of attacks from the enemy. From a broken down car to mechanics ruining it further. Just when i thought that it was over, my daughter’s school informed me she had bolted out of school. Thankfully she came straight home with God’s guidance. I assumed  the devil was now done with me because aside from spending so much on the car, her fees were forfeited to school barely a week of learning since start of the new term. Money i would have done so much with.  As we continued throwing good money after bad on the car, come monday last week and i receive a call from our daughter’s school that i need to pick her instantly as she’s very ill and not responding to medication prescribed for her at the hospital the school had taken her for treatment three days earlier. Thankfully my husband had just arrived and so i had a partner to share the burden with.

By now we have retrieved the car and given it to the dealer. They realize that aside from good parts having been removed and replaced with old parts, the rogue mechanic caused more damage in the process.  Meanwhile our other daughter has reported to a new school, a feat we wouldn’t have managed without assistance from our older children. Truly humbling.

By wednesday evening, the car has a new problem, and so we are completely in surrender to His will. We are scheduled to depart early next morning. And so as i tossed and turned that night, the Lord reminded me.  He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

Thursday early morning the car is delivered in time for the over 500kms drive to Busia where He sent us for the inaugural Adornment gathering and essentially our station of calling by Him. We travelled without the slightest incident to and from and witnessed His healing power in the gathering not to mention the overwhelming love we were accorded by the ladies we were yet to meet.

Exactly a year ago on fourth this month i first encountered the devil prior to which i lived in denial of his existence. That was the day i was due to speak at the very first church the Lord sent me to. The jam was standstill for two hours. I had to request the police officer manning Langata road permission to drive on the cab to which he generously allowed me and instructed me to park into prisons compound. I then found a motorbike which finally delivered me to the venue by the grace of God. I now know that after the anointing comes the attacks by the devil.

Thankfully, i have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back. His spirit is upon me and He is with me. He is guiding me through all these sideshows by the devil peacefully, step by step. As i hugged my husband goodbye in the wee hours of this morning, i smiled, a knowing smile that meant, bring it on devil. The Lord is my guide, with Him i can only win. I returned home excited and expectant of God’s protection and strength that will lead me into victory regardless of its traps.

Incase you are the target of such bombardment right now, just remember one thing, God is on the throne! Focus on Him and He will surely deliver you unscathed.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 6:10-12

Father God, as i walk this journey of serving your people according to Your promise, am humbled to know that You Lord are my shield and that You are always with me. May You enable me to be still and know that You are God!

Renew your Mind

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2

For the longest time i was stuck in the same place of self unworthiness derived from my belief of others definition of me. It was so real i could see and feel it.

We were carjacked in broad daylight on Mombasa Nairobi highway as we drove to Nairobi. It was a very traumatizing experience for me. For many months, i freaked whenever a car passed me and stopped to let an occupant alight. I would nearly freeze. It was worse whenever i drove within the vicinity where the carjacking took place. I would tremble, overspeed and almost freeze in fear. I could easily have drove myself into a crash, yet in reality chances that i would get carjacked in the same area were next to none. I had allowed that incident to take a big part of my life. I was stuck in that moment whenever my mind revisited it.

Most of us spend our entire life stagnant in a place we failed, where we were hurt, where we fell. It is a waste of time. These things are bound to happen in life. We must face challenges and obstacles. And if we give the enemy the chance to keep us down, we shall stay there. If you listen to his voice, directly reminding you, or through others who will tell you how this or that is impossible. You cannot find a husband if you are a single mom. You cannot find a job in a particular firm unless you are this or that. The list is endless.

However its up to you to renew your mind through the word of God and know the truth which shall make you free. In the bible Moses gave excuses why he couldn’t lead the Israelites out of captivity. So did Joshua. Sara couldn’t imagine how she could have a baby. She laughed. But in all these instances what happened? It came to pass. It does not matter what you feel about yourself. What you should know is that with God nothing is impossible. Instead of remaining in your fallen state, rise up and move on.

Renew your mind. Do not allow strongholds in your life to decide your destiny. All high things must come down for only God should be on the throne in your life. Renew your mind, you will be amazed at the possibilities awaiting you.

May the good Lord enable me!

Your Race

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?

Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

God had a plan for your life before you were even born. He had a lane marked out on the track of life with your name on it and a specific race for you to run. God has plucked you out of eternity, positioned you at this certain place in time and given you special gifts and talents for the purpose of serving this generation.  Because of this, it’s imperative you ask yourself questions like … Where am I in my race in life? Am I running my race in my lane, pressing on for the prize that God has for me? Have I become a spectator who is sitting on the sidelines watching the race when I should be running? Have I banished myself according to other’s definition of me? Through a sin that has left me feeling guilt and shame? How can I get back in the race, ready to run and win?

Take some time today to answer those questions and get ready to renew your passion with what Christ has called you to! Because thats what He has promised to do for us through Adornment gathering. Wholesome healing and complete restoration.

Father God, we are at your feet Lord. We need you Lord and can do nothing without you. Lord, remind us our individual races so we can receive our crowns in the name of Jesus! Amen

Perseverance

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:3-5

Many people are not where they are supposed to be when it comes time for God to promote them. Why?

Because they have not been committed to the process of preparation. As a result, they have missed out on or deferred the progress of their destinies.

Almost a year ago when God instructed me to write Adornment one, i would not have imagined in a million years what His plan for me was. He has been revealing His grand plan to me step by step. Every now and then  i hijack His project as soon as He directs me on the next step instead of waiting on Him to show me how to do it. When this happens, Progress stops and i struggle to move forward. Whenever i interfere in His plan, i always delay my progress into His will for me. Then i surrender after messing up by trying to achieve it my own way. He reminds me that all He needs is my availability to follow. I withdraw, often by now am weary from trying to force my ideas in by taking a shortcut. Then the journey continues, smooth and sure.

I have also noticed that when an adversary comes up against me, if i sit still He directs me out of it swiftly. Over time the vision is becoming clear to me. One thing i know and am determined to do is  to run my race not only to completion but to win! He is awesome! His plans are perfect and accurate .

Every part of the preparation process is important so do not chase after shortcuts! Instead, thank God for the preparation and what He is preparing you for. It is awesome!

Almighty God, i beseech you to increase my faith, enable me to trust and obey you instantly so i can get into your perfect will for me as i rest in You to the glory of your mighty Name! Amen

Be Still

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

The meaning of the above scripture just made sense to me. This knowledge is truly transforming my life. God is our strength. Adversity isn’t meant to paralyze us or make us stuck. As you go through the storms of life, you grow in Christ when you let Him guide you out of it. He never promised us a trouble free life. But He asked us to be of good cheer for nothing is beyond His power.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

I have learned a very important lesson from adversities. That God is always with us at all times. And especially during hard times. All you need to do is listen to Him to direct you out of the storm as you get more and more solid in faith. Usually we get busy rebuking the enemy endlessly and hence miss His tender voice amidst our very own noise. This actually prolongs your stay in the valley. Storms will strengthen you because they also serve as lessons. And if you stay focused on God with the knowledge that He shall never leave you nor forsake you, His grace is sufficient for any storm.

Father God, create in me patience so i can see you more in the storms and hearken to your guidance in the name of Jesus! Amen

Just being is a Blessing!

As darkness befalls this day, am reminded again that, there will always be good days and bad days. We should be thankful for them all. Because both bad and good days have there blessings!

give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Thessalonians 5:18

No single day can be without a blessing. The fact that you are experiencing a bad day is in itself a blessing. Because there are those who aren’t. Today was one of those days i may call a bad day for me. Interestingly i cannot put my finger on what it is particularly that made it bad for me. Though i know the negative news cropping up from all corners of the world may have contributed to bringing dampness into my day. Collapsing buildings, people drowning in the heavy rains, politicians making senseless noise, the list is unending.

The beauty of life however is that God gives us a fresh start whenever we choose to focus on Him. So as the evening drew close, i made a phone call to my mom who shared a joke that i dare not write here that made me laugh long and hard, interesting because i was tasked to break bad news to her the passing on of her cousin earlier in the afternoon.

This jolted me to the awesome reality that however down you may be, however sad, no matter how bad you may think your day is, it will soon pass by, and you can never reclaim it.  And so my prayer is;

Lord God, please enable me to be thankful for the gift of life each day regardless of my fleshly discouragements. For, just to be is a blessing!

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:16-17
